Faith In Action
Catholic Men Putting Their Faith into Action
The Knights of Columbus offers men a place to lead their families and communities in faith and service. Our council actively works to address the overall needs of our parish and community through the various events we sponsor and activites we participate in. If you are thinking this may be a good place for you, then we'd love to talk to you about membership.
There are only 3 membership requirements: you must be male, 18 years of age or older, and a practicing Catholic. If you'd like to be part of an organization of Catholic men whose principal work involves helping others then email us or use the Contact Us form to drop us a note.
Prayer to Venerable Fr. Michael J. McGivney
Prayer to Venerable Fr. Michael J. McGivney
God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your venerable servant Father Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Knights of Columbus Council 12886 is a dynamic organization, serving the community of St. Ann’s parish since March 2001, with the benefits of our charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. We’d love to have you join us.
WHAT IS THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS?
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic brotherhood – an international Catholic lay organization for men. They offer Catholic faith formation, financial protection and resources to help men develop into better fathers, husbands and leaders. The order dates back to 1882 when then 29 year old Father Micheal J McGivney saw the need to unite Catholic men and help local families. Today, based in New Haven, CT, the Knights of Columbus provides its 1.9 million members with opportunities to spend time with their families, serve their community and Church, and grow in their faith. They also offer members an exclusive portfolio of top-quality life insurance, long-term care and annuity products. The Supreme Knight, the “CEO for the K of C,” provides leadership to more than 15,000 councils around the world, including St. Ann’s Knights of Columbus Council #12886, which has been serving our parish since 2001.
WHAT THE MEMBERS OF COUNCIL #12886 DO
With Charity being the first of our 4 organizational pillars, the council contributes to and provides for many charitable programs such as: St. Ann’s Church, St. Ann’s School, Mulkern and Schock Student Scholarships, Vocations, Families in Need, Coats for Kids, Angel Scholarship Fund and Christmas Charity Program.
To enable our works of charity, we host many fundraisers such as Bingo, Coats for Kids, Food and School Supply Drive, Fish Fry’s, Keep Christ in Christmas and the Valentine’s Dinner Dance.
We assist with parish “home improvement” projects, such as painting the Parish Life Center and making improvements/updates to the rectory.
Tending to the Garden of Mercy, a local mini-farm on the church grounds, which produces tons of fresh produce that is donated to local food pantries. Along with partner Plant-A-Row, we are able to also donate food grown by other local gardeners.
