Our summer produce yield is starting to add up. Thanks to the generosity of our parishioners who have selflessly donated the fruits (and vegetables) of their labor, such as beets, zucchini, carrots and tomatoes, we have almost hit the 1/4 ton mark. That does sound better than saying almost 600 pounds.
Here are our produce pickers and packers for this week. Featuring (from left to right) Bruce, Mike, Sean, Patty, Frank, Eric and Bob. They packed up 262.4 pounds of tasty fresh veggies for those in need. Our season to date total is 598 pounds! Our big thanks to this team and those who donated from their own garden.
The irrigation system that the Knights installed when the garden was built has been keeping our veggies healthy even during these dry times.
**Do you have any overflow veggies from your home garden this season to add to our donations? Drop off any homegrown fruits or vegetables at the Garden of Mercy Saturday mornings by 11am. Your donations will be added to our weekly total. Thank you!
