Our Knights have been in touch with a small diocesan group called Our Lady’s Helpers who are working to get a mobile ultrasound unit at the local clinics on weekends. Their vision is to offer immediate and caring help to women in crisis pregnancies. The mobile unit will be able to provide an immediate ultrasound and then important connections to the support services and counseling offered by the various Diocesan charitable offices. Other Knights of Columbus chapters in our area have already supported Our Lady’s Helpers financially. Through a series of events that seem like the hand of God, they have acquired the van, sufficient funds to purchase the ultrasound machine and the malpractice insurance, and they have had several nurses volunteer to operate the unit. The necessary next step is for training, which involves travel out-of-state. We will be donating the proceeds from our Valentine’s Dinner Dance to this very worthy cause for 2024.
